The SSi management team has nearly 60 combined years of experience working with Technology and Healthcare clients to provide scalable workforce solutions. We strive to understand the pain points of each client and then deliver a customer centric approach for them. The SSi team has significant training and hands-on experience in the IT and Healthcare industries which allows for a thorough assessment of each client’s requirements and candidate skill set.
SSI was established and incorporated in Connecticut in 1988 by MaryAnn Salas. She was a generous, giving, loving, and caring person who started this company with family in mind. As a top producer, she was always generous in her gifting to various charities. This generosity has continued as SSi continues to donate to various charities.
After her passing in 2003, MaryAnn’s son Alex Salas and John Renals (who had both worked for the company for many years) became co-owners with a main focus on Healthcare. The company moved its headquarters to Atlanta, GA and became incorporated there in 2008. In 2012 John Renals brought his brother-in-law Mike Kreider on as a third owner. After opening an office in Virginia, Mike and John began to focus on IT talent. This expanded services to include placing top talent in both the Healthcare and IT fields, with Alex heading the Healthcare division and John and Mike leading the IT division.
Since 2013 SSi has opened two new markets and revenue has grown from less than 1 million to projected revenues of over $16 million in 2018. We have also grown from 4 employees to over 140 in the same time period. SSi has been recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in America by Inc. magazine, 4 years in a row with their best ranking at #324 on the Inc. 500 list! SSi now has its IT headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia, while the Healthcare division continues to focus their business in the Northeast.
It’s not just SSi’s roots that come from family, we remain a family company with various family members working internally throughout the organization and continuing to incorporate our employee’s families as we grow.

Mike KreiderCo-OwnerMike focuses a majority of his time on client relationships, building new business, and is also involved with all company operations. Mike started his career in IT in the recruiting field at Apex Systems. While at Apex he became the top sales Account Manager in the company within 2 years and went on to open operations for them as a Director in the Norfolk, VA and Hartford, CT markets. Mike partnered with John Renals in 2013 as they became co-owners of SSi, and together they have grown the company to such accolades as Inc. Magazines Top 500 fastest growing privately held companies in America and the state of Virginia’s Fantastic 50 list of fastest growing privately held companies headquartered in Virginia. In his free time Mike enjoys spending time with his 4 children, golfing and craft beer tastings. Mike offers the following words of wisdom as once uttered by Ricky Bobby…“If you ain’t first, you’re last”. -
John RenalsCo-OwnerJohn focuses a majority of his time recruiting new candidate and is also involved with all company operations. John started as an IT recruiter for SSi in 1995, and in 2013 he and Mike Kreider became co-owners. With 25 years in the recruiting industry, John has seen a lot, but continues to learn something new every day. John is married to his wife Angela and has 4 children. He spends most of his time as an unpaid Uber drive for his children taking them to (baseball, soccer, football, basketball, swimming) practice. In the car he is usually listening to Pearl Jam. “I know I was born, I know that I’ll die. In between is mine.”
